The Myth of Evolution

Being trained as an engineer, and therefore having more than your average exposure to science I was appalled when I first began to investigate the evidence behind evolution.  We are taught to question assumptions and to verify scientific theorems, but generally those from one branch of science have to assume that those in another branch of science correctly police themselves.  The problem comes when you have an entire branch of "science" which is in itself fiction, and therefore seems to attract either those who don't really understand science very well, or those who have some set agenda to "disprove" God.  

Evolution - The theory that all life was formed by gradual transitions of species into new species, starting with proteins, then one-celled creatures, then sea-dwelling creatures, then land animals, then eventually people.

Problems with this theory -

NO TRANSITIONARY FOSSILS - Darwin himself listed this as a problem area and expected it to be solved through further fossil discoveries.  It has not, and creatures which were thought to be modern continue to appear earlier in the fossil record, while creatures which were thought long extinct continue to be found later in the fossil record or even currently alive.  In other words species have remained very stable for the duration of the fossil records.  While occasionally species have died off, there do not appear to be any gradual transitions to new species.

IRREDUCIBLE COMPLEXITY - Evolution argues that small mutations in DNA led to small variations between creatures which when selected for through natural processes (survival of the fittest) developed into new capabilities for the creature.  This sounds great, but it doesn't explain the many, many parts of people and animals which are irreducibly complex.  This includes such things as the eye, which is vastly complex - if any single piece of its puzzle is missing the creature is blind.  It also does not explain such things as wings.  It would be pretty hard to argue how the first several thousand "proto-birds" who had increasingly large stumps protruding from their bodies found this to be an advantage, let alone how they developed the feathers necessary to fly!

SPONTANEOUS GENERATION - Evolutionists claim that life arose by blind chance given certain elements, heat, electricity, sunlight, etc.  Nobody has been able to demonstrate anything of this sort in any real experiment.  The few cases where scientists were able to "evolve" simple proteins only occurred because the scientists continually helped the process from one stage to the next, altering the conditions by hand as they thought could have happened.  In other words, the proteins had an intelligent creator.  They actually were proving the opposite of what they were hoping to prove.

In Darwin's day people thought bacteria spontaneously evolved in spoiled milk and that maggots spontaneously evolved in spoiled meat.  Louis Pasteur proved that these were actually existent in the original item, and simply multiplied as the food decayed.  He developed "pasturization" as a means of eliminating the bacteria in milk.  Pasteur proved that these things did not "evolve" from nothing.  Science has also discovered complexity in bacteria which goes far beyond what was suspected in Darwin's day.

If you somehow made allowances for all of the mechanisms (cells, nuclei, proteins, etc.) and simply tried to explain how evolution could have come up with the genetic sequence for bacteria you would fall on your face.  ??? points out that in order to blindly pick out the letters in the phrase "the theory of evolution" one would on average require...

INFORMATION THEORY - Information theory argues that an intelligent code must be produced by an intelligent source.  Therefore, if information is detected, then some intelligence must have created it.  This is a basic tenet of communication theory and is also the basis of the SETI (search for extraterrestrial intelligence) which has captivated thousands of scientists.  They are looking for an intelligent radio signal from somewhere in outer space.  The irony of it is that we have, in our very genes, coded information which goes way beyond that in even the most advanced modern software programs.  But ironically, everyone throws their theories out the window and declares it an "accident".

The chance of a human "evolving" from the dust of the Earth is far less than the chance of a 1.0GHz Pentium 4 with Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office evolving in the silicon (sand) on the beach!  I would venture to say that if someone who had never seen a computer stumbled across one on the beach, they would probably assume it had been created - and this without even a degree in science!

The bottom line: Evolution exists as a theory because it allows people to deny the existence of God.  It has no basis in reality, and sadly is the best theory for their existence that atheists can come up with in their attempt to free themselves from a higher power.
